The State of Tourism and Yacht Angelito During the COVID-19 Outbreak
Travel has come to a halt here in Ecuador and across the world, and the travel industry has temporarily closed down. We at Cometa Travel and Yacht Angelito Galápagos are standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters across the travel industry during this time of closures. We have cancelled our cruises effective as of March 15th to comply with safety and travel regulations.
Yacht Angelito Galápagos will return to normal service on June 21st. We are happy to be doing our part to keep our clients, staff, and families safe and healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak. We hope you will join us in the #stayhome and #yomequedoencasa movements.
The animals in Galápagos are enjoying their break, too! The Galápagos Islands continue to be one of the most special places on Earth, and the islands and animals will be eagerly awaiting our return!
Yacht Angelito’s Promise
The Yacht Angelito is a family owned company with over 30 years’ experience in the Galápagos Cruise and Tour industry. As a family owned company, we view our incredible staff and crew as family, too! That’s why we are doing everything in our power to do right by our clients and employees in the face of unprecedented changes and challenges.
During the nearly two month closure that started early this March, Cometa Travel and Yacht Angelito will maintain all staff and crew, even though the company won’t be bringing in any income during this time. Our staff, crew, and families depend on us just as much as we depend on them. We are proud to say that 250 people are directly or indirectly affected and supported by the salaries and operations of Cometa Travel and Yacht Angelito.
The Yacht Angelito was built and founded in Galápagos, and nearly all our employees are based there. This allows us to support the local economy and residents of our beloved Galápagos Islands in a real and tangible way. When you book a cruise on the Yacht Angelito, you aren’t helping a corporation; you’re helping us pump real dollars right back into local Galápagos communities. Thank you!
Experience Galápagos This Summer
The Yacht Angelito will be back up and running beginning on June 21st! You can book cruises now with start dates in July or later. Remember: there is no best time to visit the Galápagos Islands! The islands’ proximity to the equator means consistent daylight hours and little seasonal variation in the weather. Every month is the best month for the experience of a lifetime!
For those who had a cruise booked during the period of inoperation, we encourage you to reschedule your tour instead of cancelling. We understand that travel plans can be hard to rearrange, so we are offering a variety of creative options to help you experience the magic of Galápagos after the reopening of the park. We can’t wait to see you on the Yacht Angelito this summer!
